Anna Goodall, that ring is sooo already on my christmas list AND i nearly bought it for your birthday! We are so very in tune with eachother. I am rather in love with this too

On Wednesday Rosie drew my attention to this ring from Tatty Devine.
They also have some pipe jewellery and a moustache brooch and oh so many other good things. Not as good as the amazing item in Saskia's last post though! That is outstanding!

Right Now: The Hitler Rap
I just remembered the existence of the song To Be Or Not To Be by Mel Brooks, so I checked on YouTube and of course there it was. I hadn't heard it since it was in the charts (apparently in 1983) even though my brain had held on to the chorus thus prompting the search, so it was rather a treat to hear it and then I noticed a coincidental additional treat for Saskia at about 2 mins 10 secs in ...

Sam is VERY upset by those photos! He HATES eyes drawn on eyelids (in a good natured way). They remind him of Paul McCartney (but they are Brilliant!).
Berek, what was the reply?? My dependence on solvents stems from the fact that I have ONLY just finished decorating and I started at 9am! Hard core... you know the score!

Back Then: Some Early Moustaches (November 1993, Derby).
I've gone for the full (yet very groomed and stylised) beard and one drawn-on eye, whereas Becky has opted for the classic pencil moustache and eyes drawn on her eyelids and glasses!

I'm rather excited about my first reply from a uni. I am also curious as to why my fellow bloggers have developed a fondness for moustaches , is it anything to do with Movember? My curiosity has been aroused even further (close to the level so famously fatal to felines) as to what has led Saskia down the path of solvent abuse?
Right Now
Fellow bloggers have you taken me at my word? Are we now having a silent meeting for worship?? Help, still high on wood stain/varnish/white spirit!

I am rather grateful that the extra hour I had asleep this morning was nothing to panic about - it was cancelled out by "daylight saving" which I had forgotten about. The only reason I was worried is that Right Now I am about to embark on making a chocolate cake for my dad's birthday tea which is in fact almost 4 months late - he was born at the beginning of August (some years ago, in case you were starting to feel bewildered by my family's seemingly unorthadox set-up)...
Here's one of my favourite pics of my dad, having a quick doze on a cliff top in Wales.

I'm beginning to lose faith in London's transport infrastructure. In my recent attempts to travel on weekends I have been left with the feeling that it would have been easier to travel by car. In fact today it would have been easier to travel on the back of a half blind one legged unicyclist who suffers from sunlight induced epileptic fits!

Damn - it sounds like pasties have been somewhat spoiled for Sas now that they have a dead-badger connotation, so I'd better rethink my outfit for my birthday drinks. Pah.
Also, by small coincidence I had a Greggs vegetable pasty for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. It didn't have any tassles on thankfully - they tend to get stuck in one's teeth.

That delightful Rachael-based garment is reminding me that Becca went to a party on Friday night and there was a girl wearing... wait for it.... red lacey pants, pasties and a cape/shrug made out of a badger skin with the badger head resting between her shoulder blades! (If you prefer to imagine her wearing greggs cheese and onion pasties I will not hold it against you).
In the interest of asserting my solidarity with the badgers I have included a photo of a badger wearing a badger cape with the head in the correct head position.

Berek Warren! As I live and breath! I had no IDEA you fancied Georgia! That has put an enormous grin on my (half cut) face.
Erm, ok, on the drinks front... they were, erm, Pepsi Max, Squash and Ginger Beer. Anna just happens to like the accumulation of drinks. On one notable occasion in a rather stuck up restaurant in New York she managed to accumulate 5 (is that right Anna?) and on that occasion some of them were alcoholic.

I am amazed that it's UCAS form time already when you've barely even started the course, Berek! These are exciting times. I have a fish at home. I will ask him to spread the word around the university fishes about your nice hook. Oo, that sounds like a euphemism. Sam heard a rumour that you had an ugly hook! Oops, this has turned into a piece of automatic writing. Although, come to think of it, automatic writing is very much in the spirit of the RIGHT NOW ethos! Can you be in the spirit of an ethos, I wonder?
It's done!
Right now I'm relived of my UCAS worries. That's right people I have completed the dreaded form and my personal statement has been finalised (after 7 drafts), inspected and complemented by my tutor. The whole lot has now been sent off to be stuck onto a fishing line and dangled into the ocean of education in the hope that some shinny university bites. Fingers crossed for a 100pound Oxford Kipper.

In fact I think it is a person's social duty to get the facts down in black & white to protect their fellow man from making the same mistakes as them.

Right Now I'm delighted...
...that there is a open air cinema at Oxford Castle this week, but sad that I didn't know anything about it till today, and disappointed at the selection of films they've chosen to show which are cheeeeeeesy in the extreme - and while I may have 3 out of 4 of them on video (shhhh...) it doesn't mean I want to pay money to watch them in front of other people! Why couldn't they screen Brief Encounter or The Third Man or Vertigo or something if they're determined to show "classic" films? I'd pay to see those in an atmospheric outdoor setting! Silly billies.
Also while I was writing the above I happened to notice that Delia Smith is on a Waitrose advert looking rather ropey in a cobalt blouse and she is suggesting that a person should coat their chicken breasts in couscous before baking them in the oven. I would have remained oblivious to these things except that she caught my attention by pronouncing it cooze-cooze and I find that unsettling.

Science
RIGHT NOW I am giggling about Saskia's post below, and have been inspired to write some Q&As for men hoping to wow the ladies with their moves, based on the study she mentions.
Q I am a wannabe lothario who dances like a malfunctioning windmill. Am I likely to get lucky with the ladies?
A No. You must have witnessed it - because apparently we have all witnessed it – a packed dancefloor of bodies gyrating perfectly to the beat suddenly being emptied by the unwelcome appearance of a man flailing his arms about wildly? And not emptied in a good way. If there is one.
Q I realise that the single most important arena where humans select their mates is the dancefloor, but I'm not sure what the dancefloor can inspire in a person. Please could you fill me in?
A The dancefloor can inspire terror and longing – but more often embarrassment and hilarity.
Q My footwork is really, really fancy. Is that enough to attract a mate?
A Sadly not. A study has revealed that upper body movement is key to attracting women. It was in the Independent science bit and everything.
Q I like to dance vigorously, making large movements of my upper body and head, but I also vary my movements, showing creativity and flair; whereas my friend likes to lean towards folk dancing of the Riverdance kind. You know the sort of thing - Irish dancing, with its focus on leg kicking and a static upper body. Neither of us want to face disappointment. Which of us is most unlikely to set women's hearts racing?
A The results of the study, which are surprisingly detailed, suggest that the speed of the right knee is critical, as is the size and variability of movement of the neck, trunk, left shoulder and wrist. As long as you incorporate some or all of those body parts into your routine and watch the speed of your right knee, it sounds like you are going to be the dancefloor hit.
